Prof Dr Heinrich Kappert retired

After ten years as Sector Manager R&D Technologies at Ivoclar Vivadent, Prof Dr Heinrich Kappert retired in December 2012.

Prof Kappert and his colleagues expedited the development of dental materials and procedures at Ivoclar Vivadent. “Under the direction of the Chief Technology Officer Dr Volker Rheinberger, I was responsible for advancing and integrating valuable ideas – always keeping my most important goal in mind: quality. Based on my vast experience as professor in Dental Materials Science as well as my versatile knowledge, I was able to intervene, consult and correct whenever and wherever I saw fit”, states Prof Kappert.

His academic career
Prof Dr Heinrich Kappert, born in 1939, received his doctorate in Physics in 1969 and was promoted to Professor in 1980 (experimental physics). For the next 20 years, he held the professorship for Dental Materials Science at the School of Dentistry of the University Hospital Freiburg (Germany). In 2002, Prof Kappert transferred to Ivoclar Vivadent. His life’s work includes more than 50 publications regarding experimental physics, 75 publications regarding dental materials and experimental dentistry, five books and two patents. For his outstanding achievements, especially in the area of “dental prosthetics and dental materials science”, Prof Kappert was awarded the Van-Thiel prize by the “German Society for dental prosthodontics and dental materials” (Gesellschaft für Prothetik und Werkstoffkunde, DGZPW) in 2010.
